I mean, I'm down. I might know a guy who might be able to help you out. He's a technological genius and is trying to make power suits for certain... demographics. [ She doesn't have the heart to inform Utena he is literally a steel-coated sleazebag but details, details. ]
[Should she be talking about this over text? Maybe this is the sort of thing that'd be better face to face... then again, Mai's a busy person. She might as well keep it here]
somebody he knew back home said that he took advantage of one his valkyries. that he made her be more to him than just a singer. i don't know how much of it is true, but even he admitted that what happened wasn't right.
[there's more to the story, but it was hard enough getting this much out. it's a starting point.]

[ Mai could've suspected so, but it's a really bad look to say that you know you're working with a metallic trash bag. ]
He hasn't tried anything with me, but that's probably because he knows I'd turn him into scrap metal.
And if you were to join, I'd make sure you weren't treated that way either. He might be the one with the talent, but he needs us to do whatever it is he thinks he can do. [ Mai? Being apathetic about other people and their plans!?!? What a twist!!!! ]
He knows he can't bite the hand that powers him. He needs us.
I don't think he has, because I think otherwise I would've heard it.
He wants to create a girl group, and you've seen my news reports. It's almost a priority he gets someone else to join me, as I don't have the ~natural extroverted charisma~ to become a pop star on my own. I'm surprised I haven't been fired by my network yet.
i still don't want to get involved with this guy. but i don't want him to creep on anyone else, either. you and i can take care of ourselves, but i don't know about anyone else he'd want to bring into this.
so... if he does find someone else, call me. he can't really do anything if we outnumber him three to one.
I used to work for the Princess of our Kingdom. Things got kind of complex, as her brother and I had feelings for each other but he was a fugitive and we were supposed to track him down.
Eventually, he returned home but there I found my loyalties tested. Now, this Fire Princess, makes Woden look as threatening as one of these non-mutated butterflies. She was clever enough to outsmart adults and take over entire cities our Nation previously thought were impenetrable, she was skilled enough to take on almost entire armies, including the Avatar, the world's most skilled bender, and was pretty much regarded as the Fire Nation's prodigy.
The only reason why she failed in the end is because she miscalculated my loyalty. Me, and my other friend, deserted her and she eventually snapped. Without any of her previous rationality, she lost.
The point is: sometimes it's best to keep people like this close to you, as it's easier to defeat the enemy you know than the enemy you don't.
I hope I do not need your offer, but I'll keep it in mind. Woden has some amazing potential, and it could be put to a lot of good. He just has to be convinced he's being steered in his direction.
[Mai's response is a lot to take in. The story about Mai's home and her princess, the message about the subtler side of politics... it's all a foreign world to her.]
i'm not really good with this sort of thing to be honest. but that other valkyrie, she got hurt because there was nobody to back her up. if he's planning anything then he's probably going to make the same mistake your princess did: he's not going to expect us to be loyal to anyone but him.
and we can probably take him on, even without the powers he wants to give us. if we need to.
Do you know Petyr Baelish? I've taken up some work on the side being his bodyguard, so we have a potential vault of allies if things go wrong. [ but if Utena came here to tell Mai that her taste in allegiances are garbage than ...that's honestly pretty needed, thank you, Utena. ]
I'm sure even without this suit to launch me across a building, I can still just reduce him to scrap metal in seconds. My combat ability isn't very diverse, but it gets the job done enough.
we talked a couple times. i don't really know him like you do, but he seemed pretty alright. and he seems like the kind of guy who knows everybody, too. if we have someone like that on our side then we don't have anything to worry about.
[sadly, that callout will have to wait, because... she knows very, very little about Baelish. womp womp.]
I have to admit, I'm sightly inspired by his willingness to make this place agreeable for everyone. My dad was a governor, and didn't really care much about his people. [ That was a cocktail of lies and half truths. Mai doesn't find Petyr inspiring, she just finds him useful and an excuse to devote resources towards her plan of a killer squad of girl fighters courtesy of Woden's talents. And, as governor, her dad's people were actually conquered people subjugated to his rule but ..., still, with recent events revealing her dad is trying to lead an insurgency against her ex, it seems like all her dad really cared about was power. ]
But with his resources, there's not really a lot Woden can do. I haven't told him that I'm Baelish's bodyguard; I'd rather keep him up our sleeve.

I'm waking up in a different city every day but there's a likelihood it'll be yours soon.

has he tried to pick up anyone else?
[Utena knows that she can take care of herself. She knows that Mai can take care of herself. But she's not sure about the potential third.]
